An evening Question.

It was already growing dusk, when I was returning to my home from the office. I was checking e-mails and messages in my phone while walking. A kid of around eight or nine years old was walking beside me. He was very curious to look into my smartphone and he was staring it constantly as if I am playing games in it. I looked at him, so did he. I smiled and said "hi". He replied the same with "hello". Casually, I asked his name, even he asked mine. I do not remember his name but I was taken back by his next question.

"To which caste you belong to?"Asked the kid. I was stuck, not because I do not know it. I was speechless and thinking, what made him to ask such question..? I never expected such question from a boy of around 9 years old. Is something wrong with my name.? LOL, or didn't he understand my name? or he might be categorizing the names by means of the religion one belongs to. I was completely speechless like in our viva-voice during my Engineering exams. But this was very harder than that. Should I say the kid was smart? or should I say the kid was mature enough to understand and categorize the individuals depending upon caste, religion etc. Where is our younger generation moving to..? and from where does they are so influenced to raise such thoughts?

Just give a try to ask yourself, when we were kids, do such thoughts occur in our mind? I bet, and I hope the answer is 'NO'....!!!!!!! Don't you think something must change? What is that something? I leave that to yourself.
